What are the facts about Khufu’s Pyramid?

Welcome to Egypt. I am going to tell you some of the cool things about Khufu’s pyramid. This was the first pyramid to be made and it is the oldest pyramid of all the Giza ones. It is so big it takes up 10 football fields.The most talked about pyramid is khufu's . It is 449 feet tall and the sides are 755 feet long.The pyramid is made up of over 2,000,000 limestone blocks. The average weight of a single block is like the weight of two medium size cars. However, some blocks weigh up to 15 tons!

How Was I Built and Who Built Me?

The Giza Pyramids were built during the time that King Khufu was the big boss. It took over 400,000 people and almost 30 years to build these pyramids. They were completed in 2580 BC.

Not very much is understood about the Cheops Pyramid. This pyramid was robbed long before archeologists knew about it. Anything about King Cheops was taken when the tomb was robbed. The top of the Gallery is held up by pillars (large cylinder tip things).The Grand Gallery is very big. It leads to the Queen's Chamber.

What Do We Know About Pharaoh Khufu or King Cheops?

Khufu was the second pharaoh in the fourth dynasty in the old kingdom. this is only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is the only one to remain largely intact. The Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. King Cheops was buried alone in his big pyramid. His wives were probably buried in three smaller pyramids nearby. King Cheops (also known as Khufu) was believed to have been the ruler of a very advanced group. He was probably very rich and well respected. Archeologists know this because his pyramid was so big. King Cheops was the first person to be mummified. Archeologists have learned a lot from the markings on the walls of the Cheops Pyramid. Even though it was robbed, So in a way, Cheops was really able to live forever.

The pyramid was importent for the following reasons. It was used to make sure that the body had a place to go and that they had a place to preserve the body. It was also used to makes sure that the body made it to the afterlife. Today we don't put people in a big building. All that we do is we bury them or cremate them. Some of us don't believe in the afterlife like they did back then.
